Kenny EmechetaDebut double
Debut delight: Kenny Emecheta scored twice and set up another in a dominant Red Bibs win.

Reds fly out of the traps

Red Bibs were ahead inside two minutes. John Shady's pressing created the chance and Jordan Clarke slotted into the corner for 0–1. Yellow Bibs hit back almost at once, with Joshua D firing a long-range strike into the bottom corner from a Yemi Felo assist to make it 1–1 in the fourth minute. Two debutants combining, and what a way to start.

Konopka's one for the ages

Then came the moment everybody will be talking about. In the 14th minute Artur Konopka took the ball from his goalkeeper Sujan Basnet, dribbled past a handful of yellow attackers and hit an incredible long shot that dipped over the keeper. It was 1–2, and arguably one of Footy Vision's greatest goals of all time.

The Reds were rolling. Kenny Emecheta, another debutant, ran from the halfway line and finished calmly from a Maz Pan assist for 1–3 in the 17th minute. Two minutes later he turned provider, setting up Aayush Rathod for 1–4, and in the 25th minute he added his second, this time from a John Shady assist, to make it 1–5.

Yellows keep fighting

To their credit, the Yellows never gave up. Joshua D grabbed his second in the 30th minute from a David Chisholm assist to make it 2–5. Late on, Yemi Felo cut in from the right wing onto his left foot and curled a lovely finish into the bottom left corner, set up by Jonti Chisholm, for 3–5 in the 48th minute. It was not enough to complete the comeback, but it closed the gap and gave the Reds something to think about.

A dominant display from the Reds, then, with all three debutants, Emecheta, Felo and Joshua D, playing excellently.
