Stand-out display: Kenny Emecheta scored twice, including a lovely solo run, to give the Oranges the advantage.

Goals from the off

There was no warming up at Alec Reed Academy. David Poju struck after just 2 minutes, a high press from the Orange attacker catching the defender out before a well-finished goal made it 0–1. Sky Bibs answered almost straight away: Ufuoma Akpokiniovo pounced on a rebound after the goalkeeper saved a long shot, and it was 1–1 on 3 minutes.

Poju bagged his second on 9 minutes, set up by Gucci Lewis, to make it 1–2. Sky Blues were not done, and on 21 minutes came a lovely team goal. Paolo Sileoni teed up Che Powell, who slid it underneath the goalkeeper to level at 2–2.

Kenny takes over

Then came the Kenny Emecheta show. On 28 minutes he went on a lovely solo run to put the Oranges 2–3 up, with the assist credited to Poju. Five minutes later he struck again, this time from a Giulio Mascolo assist, and it was 2–4.

Sky Blues fight back

Sky Blues looked to be out of it at 4–2 down, but they kept fighting. On 41 minutes Miras Silva let fly with a smashing long shot, with Akpokiniovo getting the assist, to make it 3–4. The comeback did not quite arrive, but the effort certainly did. Orange Bibs held on for a win in a game that went back and forth all night.
