Man of the matchYellow flyer
Friday night at Bannisters began with the Yellows in full flow. Arash Tarjan opened the scoring after just 3 minutes, swapping a one-two with Khalid Omer before passing the ball into the corner. Ramani Lartey made it 2–0 on 8, smashing a finish at the near post from the right side of the box.
Two minutes later Av Kanda let fly with a long shot for 3–0, and on 20 minutes a slick counter-attack ended with Guy Burton finishing it for 4–0. Arash set up both of those goals, and the Blues were chasing shadows.
Blues bounce back
Then came the second half of this game of two halves. A high press from the Blues paid off on 24 minutes, as Samurai Gayle took advantage of a mistake after being set up by Scott Gilzean, making it 4–1. Five minutes later Artur Konopka scored from a scruffy corner, and it seems the Blues have been watching Arsenal. A goal is a goal, and it was 4–2.
Jonti Chisholm made it 4–3 on 32 and suddenly the Yellows were wobbling.
Late drama
Makan Tarjan steadied things on 35 minutes. Arash sent a nice through ball behind the defence, and Makan just reached it before the goalkeeper to make it 5–3. The Blues refused to lie down, though. Scott Gilzean forced a mistake out of the yellow defence and feinted past the goalkeeper on 45 minutes to make it 5–4.
That was as close as they got. The Yellows held on for a one-goal win, with Arash, who set up three goals and scored one, named player of the match.
